Journalist Melia Robinson
interviews Getty photographer Xiaolu Chu regarding his
journey through North Korea. With North Korea’s strict protocols
for outsiders, Xiaolu had to document his visit using only his camera
phone. Even with just his cell phone, it was unguaranteed that he would
make it out of North Korea with the pictures he photographed. Melia Robinson
learns from the interview with Xiaolu Chu that “Customs agents
inspect cellphones and other digital devices — including cameras, tablets,
and storage cards — for banned content.” The natives could even
report the incident to authorities for capturing images. I would say that Xiaolu risking
his visit in North Korea was substantially worth the images he captured. The images expressing proverty, emotion, and sympathy for the natives. You can read more about Xiaulu's journey here. [130 words, 1 quote, 1 link, 2 images]Friday, February 16, 2018
