Concussion Diagnosis

The FDA just approved the first blood test in the United States to help diagnosis concussions and traumatic brain injuries. The test detects two proteins present in brain cells. This new test will help doctors see if a concussion victim may have further brain injury or bleeding in the brain. The test is "a huge step" toward making a blood test that can detect brain injuries including concussions. The hope is that once this test is finalized, it will be used on battlefields by the military and on sports fields by coaches and trainers to keep their players safe and healthy.
