In the wake of the disastrous downfall of Harvey Weinstein and his company, the AMPAS has made efforts toward improving the policy for reporting sexual misconduct. Matt Donnelly and Steve Pond of The Wrap report on the new process that must take place in the event of such behavior, where “claimants” must now call in or write about their account of the event, which the Academy will then attempt to review and verify suc claims. “There is no place in the Academy for people who abuse their status, power or influence,” the AMPAS policy reads. According to Academy CEO Dawn Hudson, the board has been considering this process “since the depth of this issue first came to light.”
