"Mexican police said Thursday [March 22, 2018] a journalist who ran a local news website was shot to death in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz" Leobardo Vazquez was found dead by near a taco stand that he operated out of his home. His wife had said she heard shots and found her husband dead. The area was known to be a high traffic cartel area. Mexico's National Human Rights Commission condemned the killing and also noted that Veracruz is "the most dangerous place in Mexico for journalists, with 22 media workers killed in the state since 2000". They had talked about possible threats to Vazquez as well, its crazy that reporting the truth can get you killed.
