On Monday, unknown date, a Slovak journalist, Jan Kuciak, and his fiancée
were found dead. This murder also happened to be the “first time a reporter has
been murdered in the country, according to police,” According to the
international press institute, the journalist and his fiancée were found with
bullet wounds to the head and chest. The head of the Slovak police department
says that the murder was likely connected to Kuciak’s work as an investigative
journalist. The media says that this act of violence was a crime against
freedom of speech.
