Assault on Chinese Journalists

On December 14th of last year, two journalists were severely beaten by a “group of Chinese security guards” as they covered the South Korean president’s visit.  The guards reportedly stopped one photojournalist, Koh Young-kwon, from taking photos of the president and resorted to“punching and kicking” him. Another man tried to step in and stop the violence but was also assaulted by these guards.  Both men had serious injuries to their backs and heads and the second man, Lee Chung-woo,  was hospitalized due to his injuries.  The Chinese government received a complaint from the South Korean government, and responded that they would “promised to investigate thoroughly the assault.”
