Funeral Home Digs Their Own Grave
An article by Reade Levinson reports on a funeral home in Colorado indefinitely shut down for what is essentially grave robbing. According to Levinson, "the state’s Office of Funeral Home and Crematory Registration suspended operations at Sunset Mesa Funeral Directors after saying that cremated remains returned to one donor were analyzed by the family and found to be concrete, not human ashes". The owner, Megan Hess, was running a side business selling body parts from the same building. It was found that Hess failed to maintain required cremation records for at least five years and disposition records of the deceased for at least seven. This article is the culmination of a multipart report/investigation by Reuters on the same funeral home.
