Hockey Helmets

Apparently goalies on the USA hockey team were almost told that they can not have the Statue of Liberty on their goalkeepers mask. Kevin Allen, from USA Today Sports wrote, “The IOC views the image as a possible violation of its policy against political symbols”. Sometime around February 13, The International Olympic Committee came to the conclusion that the two hockey players did not need to remove Lady Liberty. The IOC stated, “seems to have been a misunderstanding, we have not asked for the symbol to be removed”. In the past, the IOC has asked goalies to remove things like “We the People” and “Miller Time”. [2 links, 2 quotes, 1 picture, 106 words]
