Richard Brody writes about movies for his blog on
newyorker.com. On Wednesday he wrote
about a scene
in the new Peter Rabbit movie. In the
scene, Peter and his friends are threatened by the heir to the garden when they
find out he is allergic to blackberries.
The animated rabbits use a slingshot to shoot blackberries at the villain,
landing one in his mouth, causing an allergic reaction. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation criticized
the film and it’s makers. Brody, who
happens to have a child with allergies, wrote, “I wish I’d seen the movie before the controversy broke out,
because I’d be curious to see whether I would have reacted strongly to the
scene without having been alerted to it beforehand.” [1 picture, 1 quotation, 1 link, 122 words]
