This picture of Katie Couric, posted to her Instagram page, at JFK International Airport with her bags packed for her trip to Pyeongchang, South Korea, for the 2018Winter Olympics, makes me so happy! It has been 14 years since Couric has covered an Olympic games. For the upcoming games, Couric has the honor of hosting the Opening Ceremony with Mike Tiric, best known for his coverage of football games and the Rio closing ceremony. As an avid sports fan, I am infatuated with the Olympics but the ensuing excitement that washes across the country during the two weeks of sportsmanship is my absolute favorite part. It makes me feel like a patriot! I am beyond proud to cheer for athletes from The United States. It is also interesting to learn about the host country and culture housing our athletes. Couric said, “The Opening Ceremony will be a chance for South Korea to share its culture and customs and for the international community to celebrate this unparalleled display of athletic achievement and sportsmanship. There’s nothing quite like it.” [1 image, 2 links, 1 quotation, 174 words]
