As reported by BBC News, a Chinese woman was recently discovered going into an x-ray machine through Dongguan Railway Station security. The lady was scanned through her x-ray machine as she was following her handbag through the process. She did not specify why she felt the need to go into the machine with her bag, but it was likely to protect any possessions that may have been in there from potentially being stolen by security, as it so happens where "many people in China carry large amounts of cash when travelling home for Chinese New Year". It is quite possible that whatever was inside of her handbag may have held a decent amount of monetary value. She may have just been being safe just in case any security members got any ideas, as it is not that wild of an idea to suspect thievery from someone who is checking through one's possessions.
