Medical Records at Your Fingertips?

In an article by Alan Yu from NPR, Yu discusses a new addition to the Health app in the iOS operating system coming this spring. This new update will allow users to see their "health records, so patients can take information about their immunizations, medications, lab results and more" everywhere they go. This was attempted in past by Google Health, and failed. If the new feature does work, and is accepted by medical providers, it could allow a much easier transition for patients switching physicians, or even visiting specialists. With greater popularity in the use of smartphones, this movement in technology and healthcare could prove to be immensely beneficial to iPhone users.
