#MoreThanABabe

Recently, I read an article by Jenna Amatulli, a journalist for the Huffington Post. Her article discusses the protests regarding a radio bracket competition that ranks women. “The Babe Bracket has run on KABZ-FM 103.7 for over two decades. The hosts of “The Show With No Name” set 16 women, that are news reporters and anchoresses, against each other within the local area of Little  Rock, Arkansas. The station then allows their listeners to vote on who makes it to the next round by categorize these women based on attractiveness. While this is viewed as a meaningless game to further the station’s listeners involvement, it has gained criticism from women in media all over, appalled by this bold showcase of objectifying women. In means to end this, women have taken to social media sharing that their achievements outweigh their appearance,by using the hashtag #MoreThanABabe. Even with these intense oppositions, the competition remains and The Babe Bracket of 2018 is said to begin soon.
