New York Times Fires Reporter Over Tweets

New York Times reporter, Quinn Norton, was abruptly fired on Tuesday due to controversy over some of her past tweets which included racial and homophobic slurs. After being invited to join the New York Times’ lead editorial for opinion writing, Norton was soon omitted only 6 hours after the offer. James Bennet, the newspaper’s editorial page editor, describes why he saw that Norton and the New York Times “decided to go separate ways”. After the incident, Norton came out on Twitter with a response saying how she is “sorry [she] can’t do the work [she] wanted to do with them.”
