Recently, New York Times journalist Sarah Khan, accompanied by a friend, traveled to Tijuana in an effort to clear stereotypes surrounding the Mexican-American border. During her adventure, Khan planned to do plenty of eating in Tijuana, and her article is largely focused on the kinds of food she ate while she was there. Khan describes Tijuana as a great place to be, despite the fact that it "might come as news to people who still associate Tijuana with cartel clashes and mass executions." The city is very near to San Diego, and people often enjoy going back and forth between the two cities to enjoy the lifestyles of both places.
