Redemption! Nathan Chen Lands Historic 6 Quadruple Jumps in His Last 2018 Olympic Competition
The Winter Olympics, to me, aren't as fun as the Summer Olympics, but I do love watching the figure skating! Growing up, this event was always my favorite, and I always wanted to be able to glide, jump and spin on the ice. Alas, I grew up in Texas and it never gets cold, so the few times I was ever even able to go ice skating, I spent most of my time falling down! Nathan Chen is competing in the ice skating events this year, and his first few rounds have not been very successful, but he threw all he had in his free skate round. In this article, Adam Carlson wrote that "Chen is the first skater to complete six quads (five clean) in a single program, the first to do so in an Olympic event and the first — and only — skater to be able to land five of the six kinds of quad jumps, in which skaters spin a full four times in the air." This was an amazing feat, and Twitter erupted with many skating celebrities giving him congratulations for such an outstanding performance.
