Stick To Your Word

Mehmet Altan, a well-known Turkish journalist, along with six of his colleagues, were arrested for a crime in September of 2016. They were charged for contributing to the group of US based preacher Fethullah Gulen involved in the 2016 failed coupe and face life in jail if convicted. After being held in an Istanbul jail for nearly two years, the Constitutional Court  ordered to have Altan and his colleagues to be released due to no significant evidence that ties them to the crime. However, this order was not implemented by the criminal court so the journalists remain in jail, soon to be held before a  court and given a verdict. As this news broadcasts over  media, the suspects have gained strong support and several demands for their freedom. Supporters also report that this isn’t the first time that the Istanbul Court has reversed their decisions and claimed that, “it had not been properly communicated in a move that raised fears of political interference.”
