 a whole generation in Japan will face lonely deaths. there are many elderly in Japan at the moment, enough so that they created the 5th stage of development. lots of these elderly are no longer surrounded by family and instead reside in similar looking housing structures as pictured above.  each of these structures contains the elderly of Japan. it is very lonely here and the people rarely leave their apartments. it is not uncommon for situations like a 'corpse of a 69-year-old man living near Mrs. Ito had been lying on the floor for three years, without anyone noticing his absence" to happen within these complexes. this is very unfortunate. most people are afraid of dying alone but this is their reality. it is a very sad time for these people
