Muslim fashion blogger, student, and activist Hoda Katebi appeared in an interview with Chicago WGN on live television about her book, but the conversation quickly shifted from the Iranian cultural influence of her clothes to Iranian nuclear weaponry and dangers. Katebi created a strong and highly supported argument regarding perspective and history between the United States and Iran from a reliable Muslim point of view, however, she was bluntly responded to with "...you're an American. You don't sound like an American.", to which Katebi replied "That's because I've read."
Journalist Dima Alzayat described the WGN interview as perfectly summing up "...racism, islamophobia, imperative patriotism, etc..." and "[Katebi's] response is powerful, poised" (Dima Alzayat, Twitter source).
