An American Journalist Is Facing A Felony Trial This Week — In The United States
Alexei Wood is a thirty-seven-year-old freelance journalist from the southwest has been charged with multiple felonies. If he is found guilty he would face decades in "a mammoth prison system in the world's most incarcerated nation" according to Huffington Post. On January 20th when President Trump was inaugurated many protests broke out across the nation but many were peaceful. In the capitol downtown, however, the group DisruptJ20 smashed windows, burned a limousine, and created more than "$100,000 in property damage." The protests are referred to as the "J20" protests. Wood live-streamed the protest on Facebook appearing to encourage vandalism which is going to play a big role in his upcoming court case. Despite this evidence, Wood claims that "I absolutely stand by that I did nothing illegal and I did nothing wrong.”
