Journalist Killed in Veracruz
The article that was published earlier today states that local journalist, Leobardo Vazquez, was killed just outside of a taco stand he operated late Wednesday night. Vazquez wrote on a website that covers general news and crime in their town. As for threats, "investigations suggest that 'apparently he had been threatened by a notary, and there was also talk of threats from mayors.'" Although this was a terrible murder, it didn't come as a surprise, as it is the third one this year. In 2017, there was a total of 10 journalists murdered in Mexico. Perhaps if the threats were taken more seriously, journalists in the region would feel more protected. [1 image, 1 quote, 1 link, 111 words]
