Two journalists, Allison Parker and Adam Ward (both worked for WDBJ), were killed on live TV on August 26, 2015. Parker was the reporter and Ward was the photojournalist. They were shot by their colleague, Vester Flanagan. When this happened they were doing an interview with someone about tourism. Both Parker and Ward were in their twenties when their lives were taken. Since this occurred on live TV, many across the nation were shocked and scared. President Obama gave his condolences and used this as an opportunity to get support for gun control. Obama "later made calls for tougher gun laws in the state and blamed the state legislature for failing to pass a package of gun control measures he proposed earlier in January" (Wikipedia.com)
