Released

For Turks, Constitutional Court No Longer an Address For Legal Remedy

Sahin Alpay was kept in an Istanbul prison for more than a year after being accused of participating in a failed military coup.  "I am glad to be with my family again but I cannot say that I am free", said Alpay. Even though the courts agreed to release him he remains under house arrest while the trial of his alleged coup is underway.  The Turkish government have put over 50,000 people in jail for alleged links to the coup.  "There are thousands I am leaving behind who have nothing to do with terrorism or the coup attempt. I believe Turkey will not be free if they are not free."  Time and time again we are seeing journalist being locked up so they can not report on the true crimes.  When will it stop?
