Saudi Arabia and Women's Rights

The Huffington Post’s, Willa Frej, talks about how the many claims Saudi Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, has made about gender equality don’t seem to make sense. Bin Salman acknowledges the issue of gender inequality in Saudi Arabia, and is “doing away with policies that have prevented women from flourishing since Saudis imposed strict religious in 1979.” Bin Salman has taken initiatives to direct Saudi Arabia towards a more progressive country, such as allowing women to drive, attend sports games, and join the military. On the other hand, however, there are many rights which women still don’t have access to, such as going out in public without a male guardian. Overall, Saudi Arabia has made significant progress in terms of women’s rights, but it may take decades until women are considered equal to men in the eyes of society.
