Slovakian reporter investigating tax fraud linked to government shot dead at home

Jan Kuciak was a twenty-seven year old investigative journalist who was killed along with his partner. Before he died his last story published in early February focused on suspected tax evasion connected to a luxury apartment complex, with links to the Slovak government, according to The Independent. The victims were found dead in their home after family altered the Police, Kuciak was shot in the chest and his partner in the head. The Solak President, Andrej Kiska, said if the killing was linked to journalism it would be, "an unprecedented attack on freedom of the press and democracy in Slovakia."
