Caviar is how much?!




Ever pondered why caviar is so expensive? David Anderson, Nathaniel Lee, and Jessica Orwig from Business Insider reveal that real roe costs around 35k just for one kilo. Nonetheless, fish eggs weren’t always high priced. In "Why is caviar so expensive", David Anderson says, “In the 19th century… the amounts of caviar were offered for free in bar saloons, like peanuts.” It wasn’t until the 20th century when caviar became a rare commodity. Due to being over hunted and environmental hazards, sturgeon being the source of roe is promptly the most endangered species on earth.
