Chloe Kim is a Snowboarding American Dream
Chloe Kim has recently won gold in the women’s halfpipe in the 2018 Winter Olympics. The 17-year-old from California was the first woman to land two 1080 spins in competition. Making headlines along with Chole is her dedicated father Jong Jin Kim. He first came to the press’ attention with his homemade sign while cheering for Chole during her event. His story of being an immigrant from South Korea and a devoted father who encouraged his daughter’s talent at every turn has gained national attention. Because they lived in Long Beach, Ca, Jong Jin would drive Chloe six hours every weekend to Mammoth Mountain starting when she was 4-years-old. In Chloe’s words, “My dad has definitely sacrificed a lot for me, and I don’t know if I could do it, if I was in his shoes.” (2 images, 1 link, 1 quotation, 138 words).
