Cow Crime in Texas

Image result for cow theft
The classic crime of cow theft that originated in the 1800's is back, and journalist Matt Wolfe travels to Texas to get in on the action. He ends up riding along with a member of the Texas and Southern Cattle Raisers Association, employed by the Texas Department of Public Safety to deal with cattle theft. Wolfe describe the Texas ranger as quite a character, "he wore full-quill ostrich boots, and a pair of beautiful, floral-tooled leather belts". Cows have become easy to steal because of the drought, "Cows are so thirsty, you can lead them into a trailer with just a bucket of water." He also explains it is a huge hit to farmers when there cows are stolen saying "when you steal a cow you're really stealing a factory".
