I can not believe the story by Penny Young Nance of Fox News. In her opinion column, the title "Cancelling a father-daughter dance is an incredible example of political correctness gone out of control", I was flabbergasted at the audacity of the New York Department of Education adopting a policy to have their schools to cancel all gender based activities. I, like Nance was angry that they put a father-daughter dance in that category to be cancelled. The PTA President Toni Bennett said "Until we understand what we are legally permitted to do, we need to table this event" (Fox News 2018).
Nance is a new face to me but I like her style when it comes to defending our traditions and children. I have daughters and the dance scheduled in elementary school each year is a big deal. These kids have a huge time getting ready for this event. This is a case of people being scared to be normal for fear of hurting a small groups feelings. In the words of Kevin Bacon in Footloose (Paramount 1984), "Lets dance!"
