Five hundred and one years ago, one of the biggest break ups occurred in the Roman Catholic Church. Martin Luther, a Christian monk, put up his 95 theses, which started the Protestant Reformation. Most people would view him as a reformer at the time, but his theses was not just to show the church their wrongs, but to also show the public the church's wrongs. Luther knew the consequences from this, but he hoped the church would listen. As a result of revealing the truth, "Luther was excommunicated" (Brittanica). Sound familiar? Like some forms of modern government, the Roman Catholic Church censored Luther in an attempt to hold their reputation and power. Journalism may not have been a real occupation, but Martin Luther become an iconic figure in the Protestant Reformation for his courageous act of exposing moral reality.
