Bill Biggart, a 9/11 tragedy

Bill Biggart.jpg

Bill Biggart was a German-born photojournalist, notable for his street-view photographs of 9/11 plane attacks before being killed by the collapse of the World Trade Center's North Tower. He was the only photographer to be killed while reporting the attacks. Biggart took over 300 photos of the event, though only 154 were able to be retrieved. Biggart called his wife and 20 minutes later, he unknowingly took his last photo at and was then killed by falling debris from the tower. Biggart was among the many who were reported missing, but it wasn't until his camera equipment and body were found amongst the debris. Interestingly, "[Biggart's] last photograph was presented as a highlight of the 2002 exhibit at the National Museum of American History." [1 image, 2 links, 1 quotation, 125 words]
