Albert Gonzalez Farran was photographing the humanitarian crisis in the South Sudanese town of Maiwut. He had been taking pictures of an extremely malnourished five-month old baby who was on life support for pneumonia. When the hospital's generator stopped working so did the oxygen that was being delivered to help the baby breathe. Sadly, when the generator started working again 10 minutes later, the baby was already dead. The journalist's objective in documenting this famine is that "people need to know what is happening in South Sudan." With a population with 5.5 million people, they are in dire need of food sources.
