European Court of Human Rights Rules Against Turkey

Image result for European human rights court condemns Turkey over jailed journalists
The European Court of Human Rights has recently ruled that during Turkey's attempted coupe in 2016  the country "...acted illegally by detaining two prominent journalists who were arrested...".  The ECHR believed that the journalists, Mehmet Altan and Sahin Alpay, were wrongfully arrested as the country violated their rights to freedom of expression, freedom, and liberty. Before the EHCR overturned Turkey's ruling, Altan was charged with life in prison due to his alleged ties to a terrorist organization. While Altan was charged with life in prison, Alpay was under house arrest for over a year before the EHCR overturned his punishment.
