Haiti is a test case for AID agencies

In 2010 Haiti suffered a catastrophic earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0. The death toll was between 220,000 and 316,000 with $14 billion in damages. As a result, relief money came into Haiti as well as numerous foreign aid organizations to help divide it. Now seven years later some of the aid organizations are still there providing healthcare to those in need. Due to this many started insinuating that Haiti was a "republic of NGOs." Specifically, in this article Jack Johnson, a researcher in Washington D.C., talked to Alex Derosier, a global journalist, to expand upon aid-industrial complex and long-term problems in the country. They gave their perspectives on whether the aid groups do more harm than good in Haiti. [1 image, 1 link, 1 quotation, 120 words]
