If you can't fight them, join them!


With the recent rise of ‘fake news’, a new trend has been set; journalism schools. For example, Columbia University’s Graduate School of journalism has reported to have experienced a 10% increase for the upcoming school year. Many believe the current political climate is the leading cause of this rising field of work. Although this industry had experienced drastic downfall due to free online news outlets, “ News organizations including The New York Times and The Washington Post have said they’ve seen spikes in subscriptions since President Donald Trump’s election”. Zoe Ginsberg, a journalist major, mentioned her concern that “we (students) haven’t been paying attention and holding government officials accountable enough for their actions,” as one of her motivations to become a journalist and fight fake news.
