Lack of Diverters Cause Death of Swans

Several swans have died recently due to electrocution by power lines. Unfortunately these lines were not equipped with diverters, which stand out to the creatures while they are in flight so they know to avoid them. A gentleman was out bird watching one weekend and noticed that there were several dead swans along a county road in Lincolnshire, UK. The birds were apparently flocked in this area because there are feeding grounds nearby for the birds. "They were in various states of decay, some looked fairly fresh, and some looked like they had been there a couple of weeks. It was quite a disturbing find." said Mr. Jones of Birdguides magazine. Thankfully after his initiative, the diverters have been added to the power lines to prevent more swans dying.
