Progress or not?

"There's not a history of females officiating on the men's side; that has to be built," said Barry Mano, founder and president of the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO) and founder of Referee magazine. Currently in the NBA, there is only one woman as an official rank for sports, and she is only the third in total that the NBA has hired. People are becoming more upset with the lack of progress being made among this specific job. Although, the NBA is not the only official league that has not made much progress. In order to land this position, you have to be top of your class and get lucky enough to have a position open in the league of your choice. While yes, this might be a more male dominated area for this certain position, but is that the only reason why women are not being hired more frequently?
